Here's my line-up which i'm dreaming night and day for the said qualifier...

    C - ( naturalized 7 footer ehehe )
PF- Japeth Aguilar (the next important big man for Phils.)
SF - Kelly Williams (who else? he deserves manning that position)
SG - James Yap (sikat mani gud)
PG - Jason Williams Castro (the best PG today..... with fighting spirit)

6th Man - Gabe Norwood (G/F, can play multiple positions, has incredible talent)
7th Man - Arwind Santos (SF, has this "no fear" attitude inside the playing court)
8th Man - Sonny Thoss (PF, Undeniably the best defender in the PBA)
9th Man - Gian Chiu (C, must be included in the line-up, i hope he will improve his game)
10th Man - Norbeto Torres ( SF/PF young but can boost inside..)
11th Man - Kerby Raymundo (SF/PF, One of the best bigman killershooters )
12th Man - Lurdy Tugade ( fearless but deadly eheheh )

coach: chot reyes ( i like coach chot plan )

unfortunately for now, greg slaughter is nowhere close from being "feared". even 6'5 guys can outplay him.

palakan man gani ug 5'11 nga guard sa cesafi.hehe

    RP youth update

    By Nelson Beltran
    Friday, June 27, 2008

The Nokia RP Youth team will compete in the SEABA qualifier for the Stankovic Cup in Thailand in July then will see action in a four-nation Manila Youth Invitational in August in preparation for the FIBA-Asia men’s junior championship in Tehran in September.

“We feel the Stankovic qualifier is a good tourney to join and good opportunity for the Nokia Youth team to get the needed exposure,” SBP executive director Noli Eala told The STAR.

“We’re also starting our program for the (men’s) national team. We’re making the youth team as the core of the future RP team. We’ll see how they fare against the men’s teams of our Southeast Asian neighbors and we’ll take it from there,” Eala added.

To further boost the team for the Asian youth championship, the SBP, in partnership with sponsor Tao Corp., is organizing the Manila Youth Invitational where the RP boys will be pitted against the youth squads of Lithuania, Australia and either China, Chinese Taipei or Korea.

SBP set Aug. 14-17 as a tentative date of the Manila Invitational, two weeks before the Nokia RP Youth competes in the Asian championship in Iran.

The Philippines has never won the Asian championship since it last ruled the tourney in 1981 with the Ron Jacobs-mentored team led by Hector Calma, Leo Austria, Derrick Pumaren and the late Alfie Almario.

Making up the current youth pool are Norberto Torres, Frank Golla, Gabriel Banal, Ryan Roose Garcia, Joel Tolentino, Mark Joel de Guzman, Ian Sangalang, Jed Manguera, Kyle Pascual, Joseph Terso, Samuel Joseph Marata, Jaypee de Guzman, Mark Anthony Lopez, Mark Joven Mendoza and Philip Paredes.

Coach Franz Pumaren said Fil-Canadian hotshot Matthew Wright has committed to join the pool after his summer studies in Toronto.

“Hopefully, he’ll be able to join us in the Stankovic Cup,” said Pumaren.

Wright, a pal of Torres in Toronto, is a 6-foot-2 shooting guard who has made a name for himself starring for the Martin Grove team in the Toronto District Secondary School Athletic Association.

The team is also hoping to get the services of San Sebastian 6-foot-6 behemoth Arvy Bringas.

“I’m having a social meeting with the NCAA management committee. I’m planning to take it (Bringas issue) up with them,” said Eala.
