I think its much better if the thread starter will post his/he networking knowledge (i.e. starter, w/ small experience, veteran, etc.) para mka assess ta daan unsay itabang....

lisod kung mag reply ta and then walay earth ang nag ask sa mga replies just because naglibog na cya...

much better if you specify the OS being used also...

    Allow me to help you...

    These are your existing items/materials:
    a) Cat 5 (known as ethernet or LAN cable) = make sure it's properly crimped
    b) You have one Desktop, one or two Laptop
    c) DSL Modem
    d) 8 Port Hub

About the DSL Modem, most Internet providers provide only one IP address which is dynamic.Â* The DSL modem is connected to your Desktop (let's say this is your server) via your LAN card.Â*

To share your internet access to different computers, your desktop computer must have two LAN cards, one card is connected to the DSL modem (dynamic ip address) and the 2nd LAN Card (configured for private ip address) is connected to your 8 port hub.

Of course, the rest of your workstation will be connected to your 8 port hub.

The first LAN card that is connected to your modem must be configured and enable the "internet connection sharing" to share the internet access to different computers.

Install all protocols (NetBEUI, IPX/SPX and TCP/IP) and must belong to the same workgroup in all your computers (server / workstations).
