HBO Orders ‘Westworld’ Pilot From J.J. Abrams, Jonathan Nolan | TVLine
HBO is getting into the J.J. Abrams business.
The premium cable net has given a pilot order to Westworld, a drama inspired by the 1973 film of the same name, from Abrams‘ Bad Robot Productions and Person of Interest creator Jonathan Nolan.
Written by Nolan and Lisa Joy (Burn Notice), the project is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin. The potential series is set in the world conceived by the movie’s writer/director Michael Crichton.
Nolan will direct the pilot and exec-produce alongside Joy, Abrams, Jerry Weintraub (Ocean’s Eleven) and Bryan Burk (Revolution).
