you dont need to master them or learn all of them, if you really want to be a developer want you need to do is learn how to adopt to any language based from needs... just because its cool doesn't mean you need to learn it...

ive been a programmer/developer for 15+ years (started Assembly) i have tried common and weird languages already from desktop, mobile to web... one thing ive learn they are all the same... the concept of programming is the same... only the syntax are different... i settled on LAMP because thats where im comfortable with, i can code in Python, AppEngine, NodeJS, Ruby, Assembly Language, Pear, VB6, VBA, .NET, Java, Flex, Action Script, Swift, Android, Gnome JS, XUL/Mozilla and etc...

but i did not master them all... why would i?, if i dont do it everyday its just a waste of my time...

dapat language agnostic ka if you really want to be a developer...

ang javascript mag run ra sa browser, while imo PHP did2 sa server(backend) ang purpose ani kai ang javascript dili ka save data sa local PC due to security reasons. php or back end languages are able to do this, and it makes sense nga imong data is accessible from different computers, so you store it online/server.

same ra sila language with (loops and variables) its just when are you going to use them.

i suggest you focus more on fundamental concepts before going to nodejs

    - OOP
    - Design patterns
    - data structures

nodejs runs on the server but it requires a special environment. with all the movements in technologies these days... you'd be lost before you've learned anything significant. you'd realize the language/technology you spent so much time studying, suddenly died of a heart attack lol
